The Detaling of your Tracks - Free RiderThe Detaling of your Tracks - Free Rider
Detailing, as I said, is a major thing to provide attraction to youyour tracks. There's no detailing needed, but a little will set it apart from others.
Detailing is a pretty complicated thing at first [if you don't know how], but once you get used to it, you'll actually find yourself adding even more professional-looking detail to your tracks.

On this lesson page [1.0], you will find information on how to detail your tracks basically, then advanced. You will also find illustrations on how to do it!

Terrain [Basic Training] 1.10:
The picture above to the left shows basic detailing. Note the terrain. Since the track happens to be a dirt track, it is possible that one might include detailing for the ground. If you're creating a track in which you want to add texture to the ground, this is one mini lesson you may want to review. The track can be any kind of terrain you'd like. From roads to grass, it's your choice, but let's get to the learning part.

  1. One basic thing to do to try and detail the terrain or ground is by adding lines of varying shapes and sizes like on the track to the left at the top.
  2. Try adding shadows to specific sides of rocks or even grass to simulate daylight.

Shadows 1.20:
Shadows in tracks are becoming a lot more popular now. The Ruins track by Milkshakeweedwacker is a great example. He and I have been working carefully on tracks together to bring realistic tracks. One way to add shadows are to:
  1. Simply add about two more layers of thick, ridable lines on a certain side of an object, ramp, or part of the track.
  2. Depending on where you want light to be focused, draw actual 3D shadows on the ground or OVER the ground. NOT EXCESSIVELY! You don't want to overdo it.
