There's a few more annoying things in FreeRider-Tracks.com than ugly, vertically long pages with lots of empty space on them. Here's a few tips how to take full advantage of your page space.
1. Track codesWhen adding your code to the pages, you'll make the page easier on everyone's computer, easier to edit and scroll through if you paste your code as small as possible. Avoid posting track codes like this example:Instead, you can post your track codes with the smallest
font size possible, 7. Then the track code will look like this:
Posting your track codes small is better looking and makes the page look better and is less laggy to scroll through. See the difference in
this picture.
Also, don't use the
header and subheader options while posting track codes. They will automatically make the font size bigger and uneditable unless the option is set to normal text again.
Track codes are supposed to just include the track. Making it big won't make it any more appealing, but it'll sure make exploring the page a lot more annoying. Having track codes be as small and convenient as possible adds to the user-friendliness! And remember, if you purposefully post your track codes as big as possible just to irritate other users, we can delete the track from public pages.
If you don't have the track title and info in the same row where the code begins, the code can be selected easily with a simple triple-click. Remember to start the code from a new row.
2. Using the space of pagesYou can also make pages more friendly on your computer and shorten the loading times if you take full advantage of the space you're given. You can fill empty space by
erasing useless gaps from your pages and
using most of the space in tables for the code instead of the author and the title. Also it's clever to post your code to the bigger box of the table instead of the track info box. Avoid
posting tracks to narrow tables in common.
3. Alternative choices for track codesYou can post your tracks in a few other ways as well if you don't want to fill pages with track codes. You can upload the track to track databases as
FR2DB and
Trackmill. You can also upload a txt. file (Notepad) to any website or sharing program (we recommend
Dropbox, an easy-to use, safe and quick program that you can share files straight from a specific file on your computer. I published the demonstrating pictures on this page with it ^^) and add the link to the track page. It should appear like
this. You can copy the code from the file the link leads to.
Remember these instructions when posting your tracks to public pages. That way exploring the page is more pleasant for everyone and doesn't cause as much lag when exploring the page.
