| I'm Svinepels, a Norwegian Free Rider 2 Track Author and Moderator on the site FreeRider-Tracks.com. I joined this site in December, 2007, shortly after discovering the amazing online game Free Rider 2. I had played the similar game Line Rider for some time but after I found FR2 I started playing it instead, since the big difference is that you're actually able to ride your tracks and not just watch something ride automatically through it. After I learned how to use Wetpaint, I posted my first tracks from the Adventure Series. I was always trying to make my page look different and more fresh, with colors and variation in use of text fonts and styles. When a contest was announced in December/January held by Wild-Kat, I made a track with more detail than my previous ones, called Through the Valley. It became one of the ten nominees for the contest, and I encouraged friends and family to vote for me. Finally, I got the 2nd most votes and became one of the two winners. Some weeks later, a Gamestop $25 Gift Card appeared in my Mailbox. Unfortunately, it was useless outside the United States. I started some of my other big projects the time after the contest (including Infiltration and Escape from the Burning Town) but I had already lost some of my FR inspiration. I had a long break from Free Riding until May 2008, when I rediscovered the site. Everything seemed to be out of order: There were music videos on the front page, and many pages had been spammed or deleted by users. I remembered that Wild-Kat was one of the users in charge of the site, and I sent her a message, questioning the appearance of the site. She said that she had been inactive for a while and that there weren't many moderators to help her. She invited me to the moderator team (I suppose she had seen my incredibly organized pages) and I accepted. Not many days after the promotion, another user and friend that I had been in contact with, Raptor2, got promoted as well. The two of us started to organize and bring the site back to function, with help from Wild-Kat. I personally refer to this event as the Big Clean Up in May. We also came up with new ideas and features for the site. Raptor2 was one of the first users to create an organization with users collaborating on tracks, Raptor2Design, while I created the Free Rider 2 Recommended Tracks which turned out to be a success. I also finished one of my projects, Infiltration, another decent track. Later on, another dude joined the team, Milkshakeweedwacker. He helped us with the site, and became one of Raptor2's closest friends. They've collaborated on a lot of tracks. When I returned home after my summer holidays, Raptor2 and Milkshake had been contributing like maniacs to the site. There was no point in trying to compete with their number of page edits. Since then, a lot has happened. The community has grown a lot, and we are currently on the Wetpaint top 100. I have updated my pages to be maximum user friendly, and I've been in charge of the V track contest and the Collaborated Author contest. |
This is my deceased rat, Frank. Rest in Peace!
