Just felt like I had to make this page, mods :P
A lot of info you should absorb here... Several conversations between the mods.

Conversation between Svinepels and Wild-KatMessages
Svinepels Also, to make people understand the site more, I think that in some way the content of the site has to be more clear. People have been asking me how to add tracks etc. when there's an own page where it is explained. This says something about how hard it is to actually find pages for newbies who are not used to wetpaint.

I think the link to the "Site Content" page should be easier to notice on the home page.
And of course, that automatically generated message I mentioned last week. It can be improved (Any news about it?)

- Svinepels
Wild-Kat Yes, you are absolutely right on all counts here! I get the same questions about how to add tracks. I also think that the track pages are unfriendly when they don't load, and the big issue is how to improve all of it.

In some ideal world, I love the pages that you mods have put together--so nicely organized and visually appealing. The screenshots add a lot, but I doubt if we could get everybody to do something like this, just like keeping up on the threads. Ideally, that would be the way to go, but with over 4000 potential users....hmmm...
Svinepels Hm..

wetpaint is probably not the ideal type of website to use as a place to post free rider tracks, but it's free and easy to use... If all the tracks pages could have been more organized, with the same font for each track... Improving all of them will take some time.

Wetpaint could add a feature making it possible to hide/show a part of the page. Track codes could be hidden by default, and once a visitor clicked the "show"-link, the code for the desired track would appear (Did you understand that?) Could be great to avoid scrolling down huge track pages. Perhaps I'll talk to them and request it?

- Svinepels
Wild-Kat Yes, I agree, it's not customized for Free Rider, but it is an amazing platform for all sorts of things. Of course, it's also cool that people can put images, videos, polls and stuff on their pages, though the track thing is hard.

Sure you submit your ideas... The Wetpaint dudes add new functionality all the time, but they pick and choose upgrades and alternations that would make sense across many of their sites...

By the way, you're probably kind of curious, and I should let you three mods know that I'm not a Wetpaint staffer, but I do serve as one of their primary site moderators to help out on some of their most important sites. So I have an "in" per se, on getting prizes and things done around the site. The Free Rider site is my personal favorite and I think the best of all!
Svinepels So you are a member/mod of more wikis than this one? I'm glad you think this one is the best! I believe you.

Yes, I've actually been pretty curious. You have written many times that you will talk to the "Wetpaint People", whoever that is i thought. The mystic Wetpaint people... Interesting to know that this site is so good that it has influence from the Wetpaint staff! That's all the strange (inactive) mods right? What are they doing on the site?

Can't understand why you don't wanna be an administrator on this site though... It's a high status. Respect, you know... And some extra abilities. x)
Wild-Kat Yup, I help out on some of the other ones also, but this one is my all time personal favorite and the one I'd like to see really rock!

Yes, this site has the attention of Wetpaint, and they keep a close eye on it... They are very interested in how the site works, as we've got some of the best community around, but I'm the one who's hands on with the site. A lot of the things that we try here on Free Rider are extended to other sites afterwards, i.e. the latest contest.

Anyhow, hope this info helps, as I want you guys to be in the know. You should also know that your involvement on the site has been outstanding and very noticed! Enthusiastic and capable moderators are critical to any site's success, and you three have been phenomenal.

That said, my goal is to really try to kick this site into high gear and show off what can really be done on one of these babies! So, if you've got ideas, pass 'em on!

I just forgot about the admin thing. I sent a note this afternoon, but haven't heard back yet--maybe somebody's out on vacation or something...Shouldn't be a prob and I'll update that welcome message. Alarocca is not Wetpaint, but the original creator. He gave us permission to take over his site, but occasionally he does reappear, though is not active at all.

Cheers! Feel free to let the other two know what we've been talking about. Maybe we should arrange for a chat sometime to strategize about the site and all...
Svinepels Yes, I'll send these messages to Raptor2 and Milkshake as they could have use of some of the info here. (instead I posted them here) Fancy that this site suddenly became so successful! That alarocca guy had a "lucky shot" with this one... Had the site grown really big when you took over or was it still "undiscovered"?

A chat with the four of us or at least three could come in handy. Just note that I'm six hours in front of you Americans, so when you sit in front of your computer during evening, I'm lying in my bed catching some zzz's!

Another thing: I think a complete remake of the home page could be interesting. I think the layout needs refreshment. We could surf around on the most popular Wetpaint sites and gather some ideas. Just to vary the site a little. Don't need to be a huge update either. Just a little variation. Well you get it...
