How to Create Free Rider Videos with ZD Soft Screen Recorder

Slowing down the browser can make riding a little more difficult, but now there is an alternative, and a preferred method. Creating videos is easier than ever with the ZD Soft Screen Recorder. In 2 simple steps, you will have your first video created without having to slow down your browser.

Step 1 - Setting Up the Recorder
  • After download, install, and restarting your computer, double click on the icon on your desktop.
  • When the program loads, please select the "Capture a Region" option, which is under "Capture Region".
  • Now, click on the top left corner of the game, and then on the bottom right. You should see a square around Free Rider now.
  • Select the video file type (WMV or AVI), and the codec. I recommend the ZD Soft Screen Video codec, which came with the program.
  • In the bottom right of the window, there should be a "Video FPS" box. Change the value to 25 or 30 FPS. Remember, the higher the FPS, the smoother the video, and the bigger the file size.
  • Now click on the "Audio" tab at the top of the window. Make sure the "Do not record audio" option is set.
  • Go back to the Video Tab, and get ready to record!

Step 2 - Recording
  • Now that the recorder is set up, minimize the recorder window, and click on your browser to open it up.
  • Once you are ready, press the hotkey to start recording (F2 by default).
  • When you are done riding, press the F2 key (or the hotkey you set) to stop recording and save the video file.
  • Visit the folder, "C:/Screen Recordings" by default, to see your video. It should be as smooth as silk.
  • Click on the icon in the system tray to open the recorder window again, and close it down. It is as simple as that.

Notes:

  • Restarting is necessary after install. If you do not restart, the driver will not install correctly.
  • Vista users running Aero will have their theme changed to "Vista Basic". This is NOT a bug, the screen recorder is not compatible with Aero on. Your theme will revert after you are done recording, and the flash of black seen during the theme change will not be seen in the video.
