How to Create Free Rider Videos with HyperCam 2
INCLUDES HOW TO USE WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER
Downloads:
1.) HyperCam 2Click to Download
How To Record:
1.) Select the window that your going to record.
2.) Move anything blocking the window you clicked out of the way.
3.) Remember the hot keys! F2-Start/Stop ~ F3-Pause/Resume (you CAN start paused) ~ F4-Frame Shot (A single frame of the video made by a quick flash of resume (if paused) and pause).
4.) Record your video (Don't worry about mistakes. If you read the Editing Tutorial, you can edit parts out).
How To Edit Videos:
Okay, this is where the creativity comes in.
1.) Open WMM (Windows Movie Maker), and drag the video file (it will be named 'clip#' the number being the number of that video in order of the ones you may have taken before with HyperCam) into WMM.
Sub-Topic: Editing Out
1.) While watching the video, click 'Split'. This will take the part before you clicked, and the part after, and split them into two. This way you can delete only one of the clips and keep the other.
EXAMPLE: Let's say I'm recording me beating a level in Free Rider. I messed up a lot so i want to edit those parts out. What I have to do is click 'Split' right on the beginning of the run that i beat it starts, and again after i beat it. Now i have 3 separate clips. Loads of fails, the time i beat it, and the end (or whatever i decided to do after i beat it before stopping the HyperCam's recording).
Sub-Topic: Adding Music
1.) This is the easiest part of everything you have to do. Download the song you want, drag the song file into WMM.
2.) You can also make one song fade into another song by putting two songs into the movie, then dragging the second into wherever you want it to start fading in the first.
3.) You can even clip parts of songs off, just like in movies! Like let's say I want a song to start at the halfway point. I would pay attention to what time in the movie that is (I.E. 0:02:19.61) then grab the very beginning edge of the song and drag it to that time. If i want just the end half of the song, i would grab the end edge instead, and drag it to that time.
Sub-Topic: Adding Titles and Credits
1.) There is a couple of things you can do for Titles. You can have one at the beginning, before the selected clip, or on the selected clip, but what does 'on' the selected clip mean? It means you can make words appear while your watching the video. As for Credits... You type stuff in... you change animation and text color, font, etc.
EXAMPLE: I just completed a video game, and i was recording it. At the end I can add a title on the selected clip so when it says "You've beaten the game." or whatever i can make these giant words pop out saying "WOOHOO!!"
2.) Other than knowing what a title on a clip means, the rest is power-point level... you type in your text, you choose your animation, and you can also change your font, font size, font color, background color, its transparency, whether it's bold, italicized, and/or underlined, and whether it should be centered, aligned left, or aligned right.
Sub-Topic: Effects
1.) Okay, the only two effects that you'll probably ever need are 'speed up double', and 'slow down half'. To add these on, click 'Effects' and drag the effect you want into the video clip you want it to be done on. Sadly, you cannot make an effect that only lasts half a clip, but what you can to is split the clip and use the effect on only one of the clips.
Sub-Topic: Transitions
1.) Click 'Transitions', and drag the one you want into the clip you want to use it on. If you want to make a transition half way through a clip, click 'Split' where you want it, and then drag the transition into the clip.
2.) If you want a transition to be longer (slower) or shorter (faster) than it automatically made it, then after you put the transition in, you can move the second clip (the one with the transition) into or out of the one before it a little more... or a lot if you really want.
3.) Remember, all transitions you put in happen at the beginning of the clip you put it on, not the end.
WARNING!!
- DO NOT FORGET TO SAVE PROJECT AS...! I know you think there's no way you'd forget, but I'm sure people have done it.
How To Upload To You-Tube:
1.) It is important to save your project as a .MSWMM file and a .wmv file. The .MSWMM will let you edit whenever you want on WMM, and the .wmv because you cannot upload .MSWMM files onto You-Tube. But how can you save as .wmv if the only option is .MSWMM?
2.) To save as a .wmv file, have your project open and click 'Publish Movie' on the top or 'This computer' under 'Publish to'
3.) Now that you have a .wmv file, go to You-Tube and sign in (if you don't have an account, make one) (also if you never confirmed your E-mail, you'll need to). After you signed in, click 'Upload' on the top right corner. Fill in the info and click 'Upload a video...'. Click 'Browse', look for your video and double-click it, then click 'Upload Video'. It will probably take some time, and then some time even after you uploaded it for it to be watchable, but just be patient!
